the british virgin islands (bvi)

The British Virgin Islands (BVI) is a picturesque archipelago located in the Caribbean, known for its stunning landscapes, turquoise waters, and vibrant coral reefs. Comprising around 60 islands and islets, the BVI is a British Overseas Territory, with a unique blend of British influence and Caribbean charm.

Tortola, the largest island, serves as the capital and commercial hub, while other notable islands include Virgin Gorda, Jost Van Dyke, and Anegada. Each island offers a distinct character, from the granite boulders of The Baths in Virgin Gorda to the lively beach bars of Jost Van Dyke.

The British Virgin Islands, with their white-sand beaches, crystal-clear waters, and welcoming atmosphere, continue to be a sought-after destination for those seeking a blend of relaxation, adventure, and natural beauty in the heart of the Caribbean.

Please note that you will need to have valid passports to travel from St. John or St. Thomas to the British Virgin Islands.

OUR MOST POPULAR TRIP
the triangle

“The Triangle”, as it’s referred to by many of the local captains, is a very popular trip that includes both Norman Island, home of some of the very best snorkeling in the BVI and Jost Van Dyke, home to some of the most famous and fun beach bars in the Caribbean!

A typical Triangle Trip would start by clearing into Soper’s Hole (aka West End) on Tortola, or Jost Van Dyke to check into British waters. Once checked through customs, we will head up the Sir Francis Drake channel towards Norman Island for some of the best snorkeling in the BVI’s. Join us to snorkel The Indians, the Caves, Spyglass Wall, or The Aquarium.

After working up an appetite in the water, a delicious beachfront lunch at Pirate’s Bight is sure to hit the spot. Feeling adventurous, how about a quick stop at the Willy T? Willy T is a floating “pirate” bar and restaurant where you can test your cannonball skills by jumping off the top deck, always a big hit for kids and adults alike! They have delicious food as well!

Now it’s time to head over to Jost Van Dyke for the afternoon. Time permitting, it is always fun to make a quick stop at Sandy Cay or Sandy Spit for a swim and walk on the beach. Ready for adult beverages, kids ready to run and play on a beautiful white sand beach? Jost is the place! White Bay is the home of many wonderful beachfront bars and restaurants. Stop by The Soggy Dollar Bar, home of the Original Pain Killer!

This trip can be booked as a Full Day BVI (8AM-4PM) charter, or our Extended Day BVI (8-5:30) option to get the most out of your day abroad!

virgin gorda

Virgin Gorda, a pristine gem nestled in the turquoise waters of the British Virgin Islands (BVI), is a haven for those seeking a tranquil escape in the Caribbean. The island, whose name translates to “Fat Virgin” in Spanish, is the third-largest of the BVI and is celebrated for its unspoiled beauty and laid-back atmosphere.

One of the standout features of Virgin Gorda is the iconic geological formation known as “The Baths.” Enormous granite boulders, scattered along the shoreline, create a mesmerizing labyrinth of caves, grottoes, and tidal pools. Visitors can explore this natural wonder by winding their way through the narrow passages and swimming in crystal-clear waters, making it a must-see destination for nature enthusiasts and photographers alike.

In addition to The Baths, Virgin Gorda offers pristine white-sand beaches, such as Savannah Bay and Spring Bay, where visitors can bask in the sun or snorkel in vibrant coral reefs teeming with marine life. Yachting and sailing enthusiasts are drawn to the sheltered anchorages and calm seas surrounding the island, making it a popular destination for boaters exploring the Caribbean.

Despite its natural splendor, Virgin Gorda maintains a low-key, uncommercialized vibe, with charming resorts and villas dotting the landscape. Whether hiking along scenic trails, indulging in local cuisine, or simply unwinding on the beaches, Virgin Gorda promises a serene and unforgettable experience for those seeking a peaceful escape in the heart of the Caribbean.

A charter to Virgin Gorda can be booked as a Full Day BVI (8AM-4PM) charter, however due to the travel time involved, we HIGHLY recommend our Extended Day BVI (8AM-5:30PM) option so that the remainder of the day doesn’t feel rushed!

Please keep in mind that Virgin Gorda is the furthest destination that day charter boats go to (approximately 30 miles from St John), and is not always accessible due to sea conditions.
