Frequently Asked Questions
Here is some information that will help you prepare for your amazing day on the water.
Why Choose Sunshine Daydream Charters?
Sunshine Daydream Charters is an owner operated small business, so you know you’ll be getting the best service possible. Our charters are private, and fully customizable. The day is yours to explore the beautiful Virgin Islands at the pace you desire. Let us help you plan what’s sure to be the Best Day of your Vacation!
Do you mix groups together for charters?
All of our charters are private. We do not mix and match groups together. This allows you to fully customize your day, and spend the time YOU want at different destinations. Whether it’s just two of you on the boat, or your family and friends of up to 8, you’ll have the boat all to yourselves.
Included in your charter is a US Coast Guard licensed Captain, top of the line adult snorkel gear, Bluetooth sound system, ice and bottled water, swim noodles for flotation and all the Coast Guard approved safety gear to keep you and your loved ones safe at sea.
How much are Customs Fees?
British customs fees are currently $65/per person and need to be paid in cash. On Sunday’s and British holidays, there is an additional $30 charge for the boat (not per person) for BVI customs “overtime” fees.
What should we bring?
For your charter, you should bring Passports for BVI trips, cash for British customs, towels, sunglasses, hats, sunscreen (PLEASE NO SPRAY SUNSCREEN ON THE BOAT OR USED THE MORNING OF AS IT RUINS THE BOAT UPHOLSTERY AND IS VERY BAD ON THE CORAL).
- VALID PASSPORTS for BVI trips (Children under 5 may use Original Raised Seal Birth Certificate)
- CASH for CUSTOMS ($65/person if traveling to the British Virgin Islands) *Additional fees required on Sundays & Holidays*
- Sunscreen (NON-AEROSOL)
- Tunes (if you want your OWN)
- Cash or Credit for lunch and shopping
- Any Snacks or Drinks you would like on board
- Gratuity for your Captain is appreciated for an OUTSTANDING day
Where do we get picked up?
Sunshine Daydream Charters picks up from the National Park Dock in Cruz Bay, St John. We also offer pickups at Sapphire Marina in St Thomas for St Thomas visitors and cruise ship guests. There is a $35 fee for pickups at Sapphire Marina, payable directly to the marina office.
Is there parking near the National Park Dock?
Parking in Cruz Bay is scarce. There is a free gravel parking lot near the tennis courts just outside downtown. There are also a few different paid lots in town. The best option is the paid parking at Slim Man’s across from Wharfside Village. Parking near the National Park Dock is very limited. You can drop guests and gear off at the National Park dock, then go park.
How many people can the boat carry?
Sunshine Daydream Charters can comfortably accommodate up to 8 guests on the boat. Charter prices listed are for up to 6 guests. Please add $50/person for any guests over 6.
What is the approximate cost for fuel?
Fuel prices range from around $75 for a half day on the North Shore of St John up to $225 for a trip to The Baths in Virgin Gorda. Please note that Sunshine Daydream does not visit the crowded fuel dock at the end of the day like most other boats, allowing you 30 or more extra minutes on the water, snorkeling or having one last Painkiller at White Bay, Jost Van Dyke! Fuel charges are calculated using our electronic fuel gauges.
What is the Cancellation Policy?
Sunshine Daydream Charters has a 72 hour cancellation policy. Cancellations outside of 72 hours before your charter time will be fully refunded. Charters cancelled inside of 72 hours will be charged the full charter price unless the day can be re-booked.
